Unveiling the Inclusion Index for Iceland at Human Resources Day 2024

10 Oct 2024

Alda had the privilege of presenting the first-ever comprehensive measurement of inclusion in the Icelandic labour market at Human Resources Day 2024—a significant milestone in our mission to foster diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplaces.

With over 1,100 attendees, 100 exhibition booths, and 300 exhibitors, the event provided an unprecedented platform to share the findings from the Inclusion Index, based on Alda’s Inclusion Pulse survey conducted across 68 workplaces in Iceland. The insights drawn from this research offer critical benchmarks for organisations looking to assess and improve workplace inclusivity.

Key Findings from the Inclusion Index 2024

📊 Marginalised groups report lower levels of inclusion than those with greater societal privilege. Across all surveyed areas, their scores were significantly lower, revealing persistent barriers to workplace equity.

📊 Toxic workplace culture disproportionately impacts marginalised employees—with marginalised groups 75% more likely to experience workplace toxicity than majority groups.

📊 Non-binary individuals face heightened challenges, being five times more likely to experience microaggressions compared to men and women, highlighting an urgent need for greater inclusivity in gender-diverse workplaces.

📊 LGBTQ+ professionals are 50% more likely to feel that their identity negatively impacts their career development opportunities, reinforcing the importance of proactive DEI initiatives.

Why These Insights Matter

The Inclusion Index 2024 is more than just a data report—it’s a powerful tool for driving workplace transformation. By measuring inclusion, organisations gain the ability to identify disparities, benchmark progress, and implement meaningful changes to create more equitable and supportive environments.

The overwhelmingly positive response at Human Resources Day 2024 demonstrated that inclusion is no longer an optional initiative—it’s essential for the future of work.
